Mission Statement

To amplify the voices of farmworker families through advocacy and capacity building.

Vision

In unison with farmworker families and diverse stakeholders, we champion access to comprehensive, quality early care, education, and other resources to build inclusive communities and lifelong success of children and families.

Values

The NMSHSA values:

  • Respect for farmworker families who feed our nation, their backgrounds, culture, and the contributions they bring to Head Start and to our communities.
  • Integrity by adhering to strong moral and ethical principles that ensure our work and decisions made are carried out in a responsible and transparent manner.
  • Family Engagement, a commitment to providing families opportunities to bring forward their voices, experience, and expertise into decision-making and advocacy.
  • Mission-Driven Advocacy to strengthen and expand programs and services designed to meet the unique needs of farmworker families, their children, and their communities.
  • Partnerships with diverse stakeholders including families, alumni, and local, state, and national organizations and associations.
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion as guiding principles to provide opportunity for ALL.

About NMSHSA

NMSHSA is a 501.3 (c) non-profit organization located in Washington, DC, led by a dedicated volunteer board of directors, serving 26 agencies that are Migrant & Seasonal Head Start program grant recipients, spread across 38 states.
