Placement Attainment

Starting Monday, I will begin working in my internship placement with Justice for Migrant Women and the Child Labor Coalition. On Monday and Wednesday, I will be working with Norma Flores López at Justice for Migrant Women; Tuesdays and Thursdays, I will be working with Reid Maki at the Child Labor Coalition. I look forward to working with both of them for the next few weeks and experiencing personal and professional growth.

On Monday, I will be attending a meeting at 11am with the staff of the Child Labor Coalition. I will be introducing myself, and I have the privilege of being given the opportunity to write my story for a blog for the Child Labor Coalition, where I will be talking about my experience growing up and working in agriculture as a child.

Meeting Norma Flores López and being able to work with her these next few weeks is a pleasure. When she told her story of working in agriculture, I enjoyed every moment because I was able to really relate to her. She is an inspiration to me and has accomplished so much with farmworker advocacy and raising issues that affect the migrant farmworker community.

I am excited to be working for both of these organizations. I look forward to growing as a person and stepping out of my comfort zone through the work I will be doing, but especially by working with two amazing people who will mentor me and encourage me to do my best. During the two weeks I was in DC, I learned to communicate better and present myself professionally in a work setting. I met with Reid about what my days will consist of and what I will be working on. I will be in charge of writing emails to officials for their support and retweeting any posts relevant to the Child Labor Coalition. I am eager to know what is in store for me these next few weeks.
