“New experiences can be frightening, especially those that require us to share more of ourselves than what we are accustomed to but learning to tame that fear can make way for personal and professional growth. Through my internship with NMSHSA and the Association of Farmworker Opportunity Programs, I acquired essential skills that guided and inspired me to achieve my full potential even in the most nerve-wracking moments, such as when sharing my story. The most important takeaway from this experience was becoming aware of the power that advocacy through story-telling can have on crucial social movements because stories are influential – they inspire change.”
